Turkish baklava is a traditional dish of Oriental cuisine, which is made from puff pastry, nuts and honey. The taste of this sweetness with nothing comparable!

It is believed that Turkey is the birthplace of this aromatic sweets anyway, but this recipe of Turkish baklava is my favorite. In fact, there were no significant differences from the baklava, which is prepared in other countries, perhaps it is only other form, but thanks to this interesting form it is especially tasty and interesting. Of course, the cooking process is quite long, but it’s so entertaining that you won’t even notice how time flies, tested on their own experience. So do your family a little surprise and prepare this delicious sweetness, and I will gladly tell you how to make Turkish baklava.


  • Flour — 500 Grams
  • Egg — 1 Piece
  • Yolk — 1 Piece
  • Butter — 250 Grams (200 gr. – grease 50 gr. – in dough)
  • Milk — 1 Cup (+1 tablespoon for greasing)
  • Walnuts — 300 g
  • Sugar powder — 300 Grams
  • Honey — 300 Grams
  • Water — 0.5 Cups
  • Cinnamon — 0,5 tsp
  • Salt — 1 Pinch

How to cook “Turkish Baklava”

In the sifted flour, break one egg and add 50 grams of melted butter, a pinch of salt.

Now heated a glass of milk and pour into the bowl with the flour.

Next we need to knead the dough, it should be thick and elastic. When the dough is ready, cover it with a cloth and set in a warm place for half an hour.

Now you can prepare the filling. Grind the nuts to a state of crumbs, add the powdered sugar and cinnamon, stir.

After half an hour take the dough and split it into 20 equal balls.

Take one ball of dough and roll out into a thin plate, then grease with melted butter.

Now spread on a plate cooked stuffing, approximate 2-3 tablespoons so that it does not reach the edge of the plate. Put any long stick, in my case a pencil.

And turn the plate in the form of roll using a pencil.

Then shift the edges of the loaf to the middle and remove the pencil.

The same operation done with the other 19 balls. Now we take a baking dish, grease it with butter and spread it on the cooked rolls close to each other. Egg yolk mixed with a teaspoon of milk and this mixture lubricates the surface of the rolls. Then send the form in a preheated 200 degree oven for 10-15 minutes.

After a time, we need to get baklava and lubricate all our remaining melted butter. Again put it in the oven, but decrease the temperature to 170 degrees and cook for about an hour.

If we mix in a saucepan the honey and water, put it over a fire and cook the mixture 10 minutes after boiling.

When the baklava is ready, we remove it from the oven and pour the prepared honey mixture, allow to infuse for about 1.5-2 hours. Well, then we can call family to the table and treat fragrant Turkish baklava. Bon appetit!
